スープカレーにひたしたり、汁気の多いおかずをのっけても美味しく召し上がれます。パラっとして食感が軽いのでクリームやバターでボリュームのあるカレーとあわせるともたれずさっぱりと食べられます。
またインドの炊き込みご飯とも言えるプラーオ、そしてピラフや炒飯、リゾットなどにもおすすめです。インドの方はこのタイライスをあらびきにして、ウラッドダルと一緒に発酵させ「イドゥリ」等の蒸しパンを作るために利用される方が多くいらっしゃいます。
